I have loved the Twilight Saga since the first movie and that’s what got me interested in reading the books (which I devoured over the course of three days). Gone were silly little things like cooking, cleaning, eating, and sleeping, I had to have my Twilight fix and I did feel sorry for my boyfriend during that time. Okay, I mean I felt sorry AFTER that time as I couldn’t think of anything else during! I’m a huge Twilight fan but I don’t consider myself to be a Twihard in the true sense of the word – there’s no way in hell I would camp out for four days to catch a glimpse of the stars and I would never scream like a little girl if I saw them. No offence to others, that’s just not me.
Despite all this, I’m not ashamed to say that I attended the midnight showing for Breaking Dawn Part Two as it’s the last movie in the franchise and quite frankly, it’s got to be done. I have been DYING to see this since I got up out of my cinema seat after watching part one. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve definitely become a lot more cynical about things and I thought the people behind the movies were milking the franchise for everything they could get. Whilst that may still be true, I now FULLY UNDERSTAND why they split the last book into two movies and I’m so glad they did. It’s been a long time coming but do you know what?
IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT.
I probably shouldn’t have seen it considering I worked a 14 hour shift the day before and so far today, I’ve been up for 22 hours but I wanted to see the movie damn it and no one was going to stand in the way of that. I came home (at about 2am) and immediately started writing my thoughts down which went something like this...
OMFG THAT WAS THE BEST MOVIE OUT OF THE WHOLE LOT.
From the very moment it began, the titles were beautifully artistic and symbolic so I knew then that not only was it going to be okay but we were in for a treat. At 115 minutes long, it was so action packed that I seriously thought we’d been short changed for a minute and I totally looked at my watch to confirm this as it seemed to go by so quickly.
Breaking Dawn Part Two of course introduced us to lots of new characters (“There’s a lot of red eyes around here”) as well as reintroducing some we’d seen before, albeit briefly. There was no sign of Bella’s mother but then she wasn’t mentioned in the last part of the book either. Speaking of Bella, baby girl is all grown up and looks better than ever. Gone are the shy glances, the awkwardness, the lip biting. She is a strong confident woman, a mother and a new born vampire who can kick some serious arse! I have to say at this point that one of the best and funniest scenes for me was when Bella found out that Jacob had imprinted on Renesmee. BRILLIANT. And Renesmee was adorable.
I also want to mention the cottage and just say WOW, that is my dream home. I loved the way that the place was LITTERED with books (obvs).
I thought the movie was very close to the book and they did an excellent job. I know that there is a lot of talk about the ending and I’m ecstatic that people are desperate to keep it a secret and not spoil it for anyone else. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. It was awesome though and what I will say is that it was perfectly executed and very well done.
Breaking Dawn Part Two will give you ALL THE FEELS and leave you longing for more. I do wish there was some continuation of the story and this is one series that has really tempted me into writing fan fiction as I’d love to explore the relationship between Jacob and Renesmee.
A great ending to the series.
